If you're a regular office guru you'll not even bat an eyelid at how the photocopier works or the best shelf in the fridge for your sandwiches. But, if you're new to the 9 to 5, Monday to Friday in the office, then it can be quite a daunting experience. Whether it's your first 'real' job out of University or you just fancied a change of career from the shop floor, then working in an office can be an ideal choice. It's just when it comes to not knowing proper office etiquette yet, or the protocol of lunch that can be a little off putting on your first few days... weeks even. Are you allowed to just get up from your desk and go to the toilet? Can you leave the office to grab some fresh air? These are all the things that can occur when you start your new office job. The things that don't crop up on the job description or in the interview. And your first day is no doubt spent learning how your log in works and what it is they actually expect you to do, rather than being that highly successful business woman you had in mind. A vital rule for anyone in this position, learn the name of the person sat opposite you, you can target them for additional information, guidance and most importantly, to solve all your new office problems.
