This year is set to be one of the biggest ever for Universal Orlando Resort.

Back in April, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon opened its doors to guests for the first time and has reinvented the way that people queue at Universal with its Virtual Line system and interactive pre-ride areas.

June saw the grand opening of Universal's third park, Volcano Bay, a thrilling water theme park with the kind of rides that you won't see anywhere else in the States. Volcano Bay is both visually stunning and also lots of fun. The TapuTapu wristband allows guests to relax and enjoy the park instead of standing in line.

Now that the colossal Volcano Bay has opened you might be thinking that there isn't much going on now, but that's far from the case.

There's just so much coming to the resort in the next few years it's hard not to get excited for what's in store...

8. Harry Potter Themed Ride

Universal Orlando

Announced only last week, a new Harry Potter themed ride is coming to Island's of Adventure in 2019.

Universal have been quite shy on revealing details so far on the new ride but they have promised that it will be "one of the most highly-themed coaster experiences we’ve created". Riders will come face-to-face with characters from the Wizarding World in a ride that is being described as "redefining the category" of the coaster experience.

The ride will replace the two Dragon Challenge roller coasters in Hogsmede. Although it is sad to see such amazing coasters go, it is exciting to get a new Wizarding World attraction.

It'll be interesting to learn just how the ride will be themed to Harry Potter. When Hogsmede opened back in 2010, the existing Duelling Dragons coasters were re-themed to the TriWizard Tournament so they could be incorporated into the new land. Could this new experience also be based on the Goblet of Fire or something new?

Universal are working closely with the Warner Bros. team to ensure that it fits perfectly with the movie series. So far everything about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a faithful recreation of the world J.K.Rowling created and it seems like a safe bet that this tradition will continue.
