Harry Potter inspires any number of enduring images: of millions of ecstatic fans lined up around the world in the dead of a warm July midnight, dressed in striped red-and-gold scarves and black robes' of thousands of pages flipped through hundreds of times, containing ten years€™ worth of laughter, tears and indulgent fondness. But more than anything of one generation entirely transformed. If you€™re a Harry Potter fan, there can be little doubt that the past three Potter-less years have left us all feeling a bit empty, and more than a bit sad once you glance over to your bookshelf where the seven beloved volumes lie waiting for you to pick them up and peruse them once more. And if you€™ve felt like this, you may have resorted to making bargains with the Potter-Gods in your mind: "Please, just one more book. Just one more movie. Something. Anything!" Of course, J.K. Rowling has stated numerous times that Harry€™s story is over; and it might just be for the better, because nothing ruins a treasured series more than a horrible, drawn-out sequel. Nevertheless, it€™s fun to entertain possibilities of continuation, no matter how unlikely, especially with the announcement of the new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie late last year. And with a world that has a history and characters as richly developed as the Potter universe, as Ms. Rowling herself put it, €œNever say never.€ So, without further ado, here are eight different ways that the Harry Potter series could be continued, from prequels to sequels and every absurd thing in between.
