The Komodo dragon is one of the most dangerous creatures on earth today. Growing up to 10 feet and weighing up to 150lbs., these things are the combination of multiple terrible aspects of carnivorous animals. Due to having zero predators, they grow to enormous sizes. Their mouths are filled with septic bacteria, including E.coli. They are also venomous on top of that, they hunt in packs (rare among reptiles), and in rare cases, cannibalize their young. How could such a creature possibly get any worse? It used to be gigantic, thats how. The ancestors of todays Komodo dragons were these huge creatures called Magalania, which measured up to 7 meters long, including a 74-centimeter-long skull, and weighed over 4,000lbs. Furthermore, like modern Komodo dragons, it was believed to have been venomous, which wouldve made it the largest venomous creature ever. These monsters lived in what is today Australia, and are believed to have died out between 40,000 and 30,000 years ago. Some even believe that the early Australian Aboriginal people mightve actually crossed paths with them. If Megalania was alive today, theres no doubt that it would be an apex predator, and could probably challenge the Saltwater Crocodile for the title of most dangerous reptile in Australia. Considering that this beast was essentially a 4-legged dinosaur, that shouldnt come as a surprise.
