The world's tallest LEGO tower was constructed in Milan three years ago when thousands of LEGO enthusiasts stacked bricks 35 metres high. Just last month, that record was broken.

Omer Tower - named after eight-year-old cancer victim Omer Sayag, who died in 2014 - is the new record-holder, towering 36 metres over the Israeli capital of Tel Aviv.

Thousands of volunteers came together to work on the project at Rabin Square, using cranes to add the multi-coloured bricks to the upper reaches of the construction.

There was no Guinness World Records representative on site to confirm the record, but photographs taken by drone were sent to the organisation for verification.
