Game Of Thrones: Ranking George R.R. Martin's Westeros Books - Worst To Best

6. Tales Of Dunk And Egg €“ The Sworn Sword

The Sworn Sword takes place almost two years after The Hedge Knight, and yet again works as a brief, relatively self-contained tale. There's something quite charming about the intimacy of the narrative, which begins with Dunk and Egg investigating the reason for a dried up stream in the town of Dosk. This pretty much acts as the central conflict for the novella, as the two basically try and salvage a marriage so that Lady Rohanne will break up a newly built dam and return the water supply to the town. The Sworn Sword comes across as a bit more whimsical than The Hedge Knight, and is another decent read for fans who want to dip back into George R.R. Martin's world. Again, it's a brief yet immensely enjoyable read that promises much less than an entry in the main series, and therefore delivers much more than is expected.
