HMV Website Suspended & Refunds Refused

By Matt Aspin /

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for beleaguered retailer HMV: administrators Deloitte have announced that the official website and online merchant service have been taken offline. Now when people visit HMV.com they are greater with the following message:
"HMV.com has been suspended following the appointment of the Joint Administrators. No purchases can be made until further notice."
HMV management had insisted that existing orders and pre-orders would still be honoured, though this is looking increasingly unlikely. However, as Deloitte continue to run the stores as normal until a buyer is found or final decision on the companies future is made, it is expected that a version of the website will be reinstated at some point - presuming the company can afford its web costs. In further news, HMV this morning announced they would not be accepting back any stock, even if it is faulty. In fact customers will not even be allowed to exchange their goods like for like. In one reported incident an angry gentleman took it upon himself to process his own transaction by walking out of the store with 3 video games when the company refused to honour his store credit.
