According to new data from Google, the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 OS is now installed on over one in ten Android devices. During a fourteen day period, Google collected data from any android devices that accessed the Google Play store and found that 10.9% of devices were running the operating system. This is a significant jump, considering that last weeks stats put the operating system at installation of around seven percent of devices. The four percent increase, which comes less than a week after the announcement of the new 4.1 Jelly Bean OS announcement, could possibly be put down to the launch of two new Ice Cream Sandwich devices, the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X. While the Ice Cream Sandwich OS has seen a sharp increase in users to the highest point since its debut eight months ago, 2.3 Gingerbread (which is the most used Android operating system) saw a fall in users from 65% down to 64%. whilst this is not a huge drop, it is the first drop in users the OS has seen since its 2010 release. What do you think of this news? Have you recently updated to Ice Cream Sandwich? Will you be updating to Jelly Bean? What do you think has caused the drop in Gingerbread enabled devices?
