Samsung is planning to unveil another device in its popular Galaxy Range in the form of a mini version of its hugely popular Samsung Galaxy S3. The new device is purported to have a smaller 4 inch screen rather than the larger 4.8 inch size of its bigger brother. Samsung is again looking to go head to head with Apple considering only last week they released their new flagship iPhone 5 device which also has a 4inch screen. Head of Samsung mobile communications JK Shin said of the unveiling;
There's a lot of demand for a 4in screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it 'mini.' at a press conference in Seoul, Samsung's world headquarters.
There has been a great deal of speculation that Samsung would attempt to emulate the success of their Galaxy S3 with a mid-range version of the device and if they are able to match even half the success that the Galaxy S3 have achieved as the top selling U.S smartphone (CNET) then Samsung will be very pleased. Thanks to German website mobilegeeks, the first pictures and specifications of the device have emerged ahead of todays official launch. Theres a 4in Super AMOLED display with a 800 x 480 resolution, a dual-core system-on-chip, 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Wi-Fi, NFC, a 10mm thickness and a front facing VGA camera.
