Universal Orlando Resort's Volcano Bay To Feature Virtual Queues And Water Coaster
More details released about Universal Orlando's third theme park.
Since Volcano Bay was first announced Universal Orlando Resort have promised that it would be a water theme park like no other. A place where you can not only seek the thrills, but you can also find a spot to chill out.
There would be no carrying around of big tubes, no standing in the blistering sun whilst you wait to race down a water slide. Finally they have confirmed just how this will be achieved, wearable technology.
TapuTapu wearable bands will be given out to guests as they enter the 30 acre immersive water park which with a simple tap will hold your place in line.
Instead of waiting on huge metal stairs in humid Florida summers, guests will be able to go and enjoy other areas, such as Stargazer Cavern, then receive an alert when it is their time to ride.
The wearables will also interact with the environment around them. The "tap to play" experiences around the park will allow guests to;
trigger special effects like controlling streams of water spurting from whales in Tot Tiki Reef, shooting water cannons at guests snaking down Kopiko Wai Winding River and illuminating images in the volcano’s hidden caves.
With no details as to how guests will be able to choose their attractions to hold in line, or if guests can use TapuTapu to make purchases yet, there is certainly more to learn about this new technology.
Universal have also finally announced the park's big marquee attraction, Krakatau Aqua Coaster.
Using state of the art technology, guests will be propelled both down and upwards through the park's steaming volcano.
Canoe rafts that seat four will be taken on a twisting journey through the darkness passageways of the volcano, as well as into the path of waterfalls.
It looks like it will truly be a water coaster, it even uses some of the same technology found within Universal's other attractions, including the Revenge of the Mummy Coaster.
Universal have been very clear about referring to Volcano Bay as it's third theme park in Orlando. As well as the exciting attractions, this suggests it's a park that you can stay a full day in.
As of yet we have no details as to whether the park will be open once the sun sets, but it their latest video does seem to feature dining at dusk describing it as a "full day of fun that last's well into the night".
Volcano Bay will be opening it's doors early summer on 1st June 2017.
