10 Best Super Bowl Plays Ever

5. Super Bowl 18: Marcus Allen Runs With The Night

John Facenda was a voice-over artist who narrated for NFL Films. He was so popular he became known as 'The Voice Of God' by the NFL faithful and the last work he recorded was the highlight package for Super Bowl 18. The game itself was a lopsided beat-down of the Washington Redskins by the Los Angeles Raiders, but the words no NFL fan will forget came from Facenda's narration of the phenomenal seventy-four touchdown run as he read out with poetic brilliance "Here comes Marcus Allen, running with the night". This play just never gets old. That can be said of many on this list, but the sheer fact of how broken this play really is not only makes it better but also tricks your brain into thinking Allen might just be caught by the blitzing Washington Redskins defenders as he makes his way left. Allen then reverses his field (not an uncommon reaction on a run, but certainly a risky one) and cuts through the defence almost without effort. Considering it's a seventy-four yard run and he has to double back on himself, Allen just about runs ninety yards total on this play and once that first defender missed (no matter how close it looks) there's just no stopping him.
