The mighty moustache has enjoyed a long and auspicious history in top level football, riding the lips of legends like Graeme Sounness, Chris Kamara and Rudi Voller to success, so it's understandable when other, lesser players decide to add further ornaments to their faces. Despite the number of moustachioed marvels who changed the shape of football history, there have been far more pretenders who have failed in their attempt to look as distinguished as Mark Lawrenson used to. Unthinkably some legendary moustaches have fallen by the wayside, cut down in their prime by former players determined to cast off their wild man images - like Lawrenson. How cruel it is that even David Seaman has sent his iconic lip hair to the great barber in the sky. In more recent years, the rise of the Movember culture has seen Premier League stars "grow" their own whiskers for charity - with varying degrees of success, proving once and for all that moustaches only belong on certain faces.
