Manchester United have dipped into the transfer market like never before. The Red Devils have spent a record-breaking £150m on a total of six players and have had very little to shout about so far, after League Cup elimination and two defeats from five league matches. A lot of Manchester Uniteds previous players, and one or two currently in the line-up, have enjoyed impeccable first seasons. Angel di Maria and Ander Herrera have personally enjoyed good starts, netting four times between them and putting in good performances. Whilst di Maria has injected some pace going forward, Ander Herrera, alongside Daley Blind, have been solid in midfield, even if the players behind them in defence havent been pulling their weight. The shock signing of the summer transfer window was the deadline day loan signing of Falcao who was stolen from the grasp of Real Madrid, and while he is yet to find the net - and with it his feet - he has been well on his way to full fitness after recovering from his cruciate knee ligament injury. Luke Shaw has yet to have made his first team debut despite putting half a game in against Sunderland for the under-21s last Monday night. Elsewhere in defence, Marcos Rojo has played twice for the Reds and had an indifferent performance at Leicester from left-back after a solid debut against QPR at Old Trafford. The top ten list of greatest opening seasons by Manchester United players is ranked on the amount of great performances, goals and silverware won.
