10 NFL Players Who Are Having Surprisingly Great Seasons
5. AJ Bouye
I think it’s pretty fair to assume that you have no idea who AJ Bouye is, unless you are a fan of the Houston Texans of course. Honestly, I don’t blame you. In this age of Red Zone channel NFL, if you don’t score Touchdowns or make huge turnovers there is a good chance no one knows who you are.
Bouye, like Jefferson, is also an undrafted player from the 2013 draft. However, unlike Jefferson, no one saw this even remotely coming. For the past three years Bouye had been a pretty decent backup cornerback behind Kareem Jackson and Jonathan Joseph.
This year Bouye has yet to have an interception, which is why I’m not surprised you haven’t heard of him. He’s currently tied for 12th in the league with 9 pass deflections and has quietly become the number 1 cornerback in the league according to PFF.
I’m certain he’ll record a couple of interceptions before the year is over, at least as long as quarterback’s are stubborn enough to throw his way. He hasn’t had a year without multiple interceptions since he was a rookie.
