10 NFL Players Who Are Having Surprisingly Great Seasons

3. Jordan Hicks

We’re going back to Philadelphia for our number three pick. It’s not completely surprising that Jordan Hicks is doing well in his second year in Philly. He had a decent rookie campaign, getting in for 8 games and totalling 43 tackles and 2 picks while on the field.

What is surprising, is how good he’s become. Hicks was a third round pick for the Eagles last year, yet he’s playing like he should have been a Top 50 pick.

According to PFF he is the 7th best linebacker in the league, mainly due to his ability in coverage. In today’s NFL, having a linebacker who can stay on the field during coverage situations not only surviving in them, but thriving in them, is becoming a more wanted commodity every year.

Unfortunately, his stats aren’t great for linebacker and he may only have 50 tackles by the time the year is over, which almost certainly eliminates his chances of making the Pro-Bowl. There is still some hope that he may get some All-Pro buzz around him if he keeps his production up considering that the All-Pro team is voted on by writers who are more likely to use PFF than the casual fan.
