It's hardly breaking news, but Glasgow Rangers have been in financial peril for the last 5 years or so. Going back even further than that, Alec McLeish was barely afforded a transfer budget during his last few seasons in charge. Right before Paul Le Guen took charge of the Glasgow giants in 2006, there wasn't a whole lot of big signings for Gers fans to shout about. Thankfully, it looks like things are starting to get sorted out. Fans of Glasgow Rangers haven't really been given the chance to simply enjoy their football for years now, but there are hopes that the current regime will change that fact. One of the biggest support bases in world football is something Rangers can boast, and those people deserve to be excited by their club. With that in mind, even if things do get sorted out, it seems impossible to imagine Rangers paying big money for players again. Even Celtic, currently the most well-off team in the Scottish game, have been picking up bargain basement signings for years. Scottish football has dipped dramatically since the glory days revisited on this list. The players here all commanded healthy transfer fees, some more modest than others. The bigger ones seem unimaginable nowadays.
