Reports claiming that Mitrovic was on the verge of completing a £15 million deal to Newcastle earlier in the summer were off the mark, but nobody should rule out the Serb moving to the Premier League, even if his club, Anderlecht, claim he's going nowhere. The 20-year-old bagged 20 goals last season and would provide a genuine, natural goalscoring threat to a relatively blunt Sunderland side who are desperate to inject exciting football into the Stadium of Light. His high price would obviously be a risk for a young striker unproven outside of the Belgian league, but Short needs to take risks if his team are to escape the relegation cycle.
