Tottenham Hotspur are always the centre of attention when it comes to transfer windows. They attract the craziest of rumours - but that's probably because they actually usually are very active in the transfer market in January and August. The club are linked with countless incoming transfers and potential sales, as the rumour mill goes crazy around White Hart Lane at every available opportunity. Of course, very few of the rumours ever turn out to be true - if they were, Spurs would have a squad bigger than the average attendance at their home matches - but, invariably, there are usually several arrivals and departures on the white side of North London in transfer season (this summer, for example, six new players signed, nineteen left the club permanently and eleven left on loan). That said, a lot of players slip through the net. Spurs have become quite renowned for getting very close to signing players, only for the players in question to perform last minute U-turns - either by committing themselves to the clubs they're already at or by signing for a completely different team.
