After four consecutive wins including outlasting the BJJ master Gabriel Gonzaga, and Knockout of the Night against headhunter Cro Cop, it appeared all the praise was well placed. Since then, Schaub is 2-3 and it appears he benefited from facing aging fighters in his previous bouts. Though in two of his losses, that didnt matter much because he lost to both Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Andrei Arlovski, men definitely approaching the twilights of their careers. Barely holding on to his #15 ranking just isnt going to be enough to fulfill all that promise. His lackluster performances are magnified by his lack of focus and involvement in other endeavors like his mediocre and overrated podcast. He may be popular and valuable to the UFC, but the hard facts say his fighting career isnt going to carry him to the top.
