So, when the first game got underway between Russia and Saudi Arabia under the watchful eye of Russian president Vladimir Putin and millions of global spectators, most people were expecting a pretty dull game and possibly even a Saudi win. Instead, we were treated to a glut of gorgeous goals from the Russians.

It only took 12 minutes for Yury Gazinsky to score the first goal, with Denis Cheryshev smashing home another before the stroke of half-time. Saudi Arabia actually dominated possession for large parts of the game, but the Russians were ruthless with their chances.

Substitute Artem Dzyuba scored a stunning header with his first touch, Cheryshev doubled his tally with one of the game's best goals, and Aleksandr Golovin, who was the best player on the pitch, curled in an amazing free kick to finish it all off and give the Russians a lot of confidence and hope of reaching the knockout stages.
