Crystal Palace fans traveled in their droves to the East Anglian club to lend their support on a hot August afternoon and were hoping the club would continue their excellent form from the end of last season. It was an an exciting, end-to-end game that ended with the South London club coming out on top with goals from winger Wilfried Zaha, defender Damian Delaney and new signing Yohan Cabaye. Nathan Redmond pulled one back for Norwich at 2-0 to set up a frantic last half hour where Norwich saw a wonderful goal from former Palace player Cameron Jerome ruled out for a high boot, a ball cleared off the line and a major shout for a penalty after Connor Wickham nudged Sebastian Bassong in the box during injury time. In the end, Palace held their nerve and, in the last minute, put the game to rest with their third, giving Palace their first win on the opening day of the season since 2010.
