10 Things Floyd Mayweather Wants You To Forget

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy.

It€™s a rare thing to be universally recognised as the best at what you do, and rarer still to retain that status year on year. Yet that€™s exactly what boxer Floyd Mayweather has managed to achieve: undefeated since his 1996 professional bow, Mayweather has reigned as the pound-for-pound king for over a decade. Furthermore, he€™s not shy in reminding us of his accomplishments; prior to the first bell of his last fight against Marcos Maidana, Mayweather had notes bearing the statistic '46-0' €“ representing 46 wins and no defeats €“ scattered among the crowd before even beginning his 46th professional contest. He is also, as he takes great pleasure in reminding us, doing all right for cash. He goes by the moniker €˜Money€™ Mayweather, chartering private jets to carry his entourage, making million-dollar sports bets, wearing boxer shorts just once before tossing them away, and colour-coordinating his cars depending on what city he€™s in. Fortunately, he can afford such lavish excesses €“ last year, Mayweather signed what has been described as the €œrichest individual athlete deal in all of sports,€ with his exclusive six-fight contract with Showtime Networks projected to earn him in the region of $250 million. The fourth fight of the deal will take place on Saturday as Mayweather fights Maidana for a second time. Their first contest was an exciting and unexpectedly close-fought affair, but don€™t be surprised if the champ eases to victory in the rematch and vocally reminds everyone why he€™s the biggest name in his sport. Nevertheless, much as Mayweather loves the spotlight and is extremely well known for his ring expertise, there are still plenty of things he would rather you didn€™t know.
