Reports posted on AOL Sports stated that Chuck Liddell was sighted in several nightclubs along the Vegas Strip in the fight-week building up to UFC 71, where he would defend his title against the last ever Pride middleweight champion, Quinton Rampage Jackson. Even more worrying still, Chuck was allegedly spotted in the Body English nightclub at the Hard Rock hotel on the evening before the fight. The Icemans late night antics and ill-discipline must surely have influenced how the fight would eventually pan out as Chuck Liddell, the bookmakers favourite, was beaten by TKO in under 2-minutes. Not only was this fight a great opportunity for Chuck to pay Rampage back for the TKO the ex-Pride champ had inflicted on him back in 2003 but it was also a chance for the UFC to once again have one of their noteworthy fighters beat one of the Pride icons, thus further validating the UFCs status as the best MMA promotion of all eras. The loss coupled with Liddells embarrassing antics in the build-up to the fight had Dana White questioning whether The Iceman still had the hunger needed to compete at the highest level.
