10. The Hype Behind Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Brown Is Absolutely Legitimate
I have to specify this because the term "fight of the year" contender is loosely thrown around. There have been plenty of promos that hyped up a main event, where long-time MMA fans realized that it was simply just hype. They knew that the fight was going to be one-sided and lacked the substance for a "fight of the year" caliber fight. This isn't the case here, as this fight could very well be one for the ages. We have two welterweights that have revitalized their career through memorable performances. At this time last year, nobody was talking about either of these fighters as possible title challengers or capable of headlining a Fox event. Now both fighters are here and the general consensus is that this is a must-watch event. Similar to Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne, fans are ecstatic for two new contenders in a division that has been so stagnant. Lawler isn't exactly new, but he's still becoming a mainstay at the top of the division. Matt Brown is finally involved in a fight against a true contender. Both fighters have put on striking clinics and are merciless with their combinations. It's refreshing to see a main event that doesn't need any smack talk for fans to be captivated by it.
