It won't be too long before Rangers return to the SPL and the big time, and make their latest bid to get back into the Champions League after an enforced absence that saw dark times at Ibrox. When that premiere competition returns for more famous nights for the blue half of Rangers - and it surely cannot be long - fans will once more become accustomed to some of the country's - and not to mention Europe's - brightest talents being linked with moves to Glasgow. But even when that happens, there's very little chance that the club will be linked with the calibre of players that were once rumoured to be on the verge of becoming Gers. Even allowing for a sustainable rejuvenation that sees the club fighting Celtic for the SPL, it will take time for players to consider the fallen Champions to be anything like the draw they once were. And as an indication of what a draw they were, we're looking back at the biggest missed opportunities and nearly men of Rangers: the stars and superstars who almost joined the Ibrox side and who would undoubtedly have changed the history of the club...
