11 Players Sunderland Should Never Have Sold

By Michael Potts /

10. Fraizer Campbell

No, Fraizer Campbell wasn't a phenomenal striker. He was never the most prolific, nor was he destined to start every week, but to let him leave for the nominal fee of £650k was a bizarre decision. He had struggled with some major injuries, and was limited to a bit-part role, but he could still pop up with a goal every so often. He was one of the last known Sunderland players who could outpace Steve Bruce chasing a pasty, with the current crop sorely lacking some rapid quickness, so to let him leave for next to nothing seemed like a pointless move, especially considering the strikers the Black Cats have brought in since.
