12 Candidates Who Could Be Sunderland's Next Manager

By Michael Potts /

12. Dwight Yorke

However unlikely (and terrifying) it may seem, Dwight Yorke is the only man to come out and publicly declare that he wants the Sunderland job. The 43-year-old enjoyed three seasons as a bit-part player on Wearside before hanging up his boots, but now he wants to return. He told Kicca: €œI take football very seriously and I€™ve learnt a lot over the years being a professional player for a number of years, a part of a backroom staff, and learning my coaching badges. I feel that one day the opportunity may come along at Sunderland it would be a team of great interest to me because I feel I€™ve got unfinished business there." His inexperience could be too much of a gamble for now, regardless of his good intentions.
