12 Ways To Get Into UFC

10. Likeable Personalities

Jeff Chiu/AP/Press Association ImagesAn assumption about the sport is that the fighters who compete in it are a bunch of Neanderthals; dragging their knuckles across the ground as they get a decent sized pay-cheque to do the fighting which they would likely be doing in the streets anyway. Non-MMA fans wrongly suppose that UFC fighters €“ much like their boxing counterparts €“ are all trash-talking, arrogant and baring an unsavoury superiority complex which makes it very difficult to support them. While clearly anomalies do exist, for the most part the beliefs of these naysayers couldn€™t be further from the truth. From the super-humble knockout-artist Junior dos Santos to the hilariously funny Pat Barry, or the much-adored Wanderlei €˜The Axe Murderer€™ Silva (don€™t be fooled by the name; he€™s a sweetheart) and the ultra-classy Georges St. Pierre, the UFC roster is filled with fighters who €“ despite their ability to rip a normal person€™s head off €“ any MMA fan would love to be friends with. Once you have become emotionally invested in a fighter because they are so likeable, you instantly become eager to watch their fights and become concerned about the outcome. It is this emotional connection which turns you into a real UFC fan.
