5. Michael Jordan Was Not A Number 1 Draft Pick

MJ is widely regarded as the greatest to ever have played the game of basketball, but the 1984 NBA Draft shows just how difficult it is to spot unique talent at a young age. Although Jordan did get selected in the first round (third overall by the Chicago Bulls), he was passed over by the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers. In fairness to the Rockets, their number one pick - Hakeem Olajuwon - is now an inductee to the NBA Hall of Fame, and led his squad to two NBA Championships. The Blazers' Sam Bowie, on the other hand, had a career blighted by leg injuries, bowing out in 1995 without a championship ring to his name.
