Leeds Uniteds Captain of the Crew in the late 60s and early 70s, the diminutive, red haired Scotsman stood at approximately 55, and was once described by the Sunday Times as 10st of barbed wire. Uncompromising and strong in the tackle, and often willing to go beyond the rules, Bremner played alongside equally hard players such as Norman Hunter during his time at Elland Road, which saw Leeds, despite being dubbed as underachievers, record the most successful period in their history to date, winning the League twice, Fairs Cup twice, League Cup once, and finishing runners-up in both the European Cup and Cup Winners Cup respectively. All-in-all the late Billy Bremner played an astonishing 772 times for Leeds (coming only behind Jack Charlton in the all-time appearance list) and now stands immortalised in bronze outside Elland Road.
