Weight Class: Strawweight Jessica Penne (11-3) has been around MMA for a while, and was runner up to Carla Esparza in their semi-final fight. Canada's Randa Markos (4-2), however was a surprise. With the fantastic nickname of the 'Quiet Storm' she took the show and its viewers by complete surprise, as she entered the competition ranked 14th overall. She lost to Rose Namajunas in the semis, but cemented her spot in the strawweight division. This bout will prove to be an interesting opener, and Markos will need to use her solid wrestling base and aggressive approach to once again upset another established opponent. Penne, meanwhile, needs to build on some of the striking prowess she displayed in her fight against Esparza, where she quite a bit of damage to the Invicta champion, including a mouse that developed under Esparza's eye that Penne targeted effectively throughout the fight. This is a closer fight than it appears on paper, and if there's going to be an upset, this might just be the fight it happens in. We'll take Markos by submission in the second.
