Weight Class: Lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira is 10-0 in professional MMA combat, and is on a two-fight win streak in the UFC, having dispatched former TUF champion Colton Smith and former TUF runner-up Ramsey Nijem. Not a bad start - but if he wasn't fighting in his native Brazil, would he be anywhere near a UFC PPV's main card, even in the opening slot? This is another one of those fights that tells you just how thin the UFC is spreading themselves. Compare it to UFC 178, where we had a meaningful fight between Cat Zingano and Amanda Nunes. That's how you open a card. Beneil Dariush (8-1) is 2-1 in the UFC, and coming off a win from August. The Iranian-Assyrian fighter heads to Brazil for the second time in his career at UFC 179. Ferreira will have home field advantage here, but Dariush was successful in his first visit to Brazil. Ferreira has had two bonuses in two UFC fights, however. The bonus streak will end here, but look for him to pick up the win via decision.
