5 Players Who Could Go To The Houston Texans At #1

By Chris Turner /

3. Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina

(2013 Stats: 41 tackles, 3.0 sacks) The Texans have dodged the critics before when they needed a QB. In 2006, the Texans selected NC State's Mario Williams and passed on players like Reggie Bush and Vince Young. The move would pay off for Houston, as Williams would become one of the top players in the Texans short franchise history, turning in 53 sacks in his six season there, a franchise record that still stands. So it could be interesting if owner Bob McNair took that same route and drafted South Carolina's Jadeveon Clowney, who he has gushed over in the media leading up to the combine. Clowney would be more than a compliment Pro Bowler J.J. Watt on the Houston defensive line, so it would be interesting to see if the Texans would buy into Jadeveon's star power. Odds of being selected #1: 52%
