Weight Class: Welterweight Former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine takes on a man once considered a title contender in the UFC welterweight division, Jake Ellenberger, in the featured preliminary fight of UFC on Fox 18. While it's not a main card bout, it's two notable names battling to stay relevant in the division and maybe get back within reach of a title shot. For Saffiedine (15-4) that goal may still be in reach. He's coming off a wicked TKO loss to title contender Rory MacDonald from October 2014, but he's 1-1 in the UFC and was on a five fight win streak before that. The Jiu-jitsu and Karate black belt posses some sick leg kicks, and is trouble for anyone he faces in the division. Ellenberger (3010) is in a very different situation. He's a veteran on the decline, and needs a win to possibly avoid a cut here. He's 1-4 in his last five, dating back to 2013, and his only win in that stretch came over Josh Koscheck, who is now signed with Bellator. Ellenberger may be joining him with a loss here, but even with Saffiedine having been out over a year, it's hard to pick against him. Saffiedine by decision.
