5 Reasons Cole Miller Is Off The Mark About Conor McGregor

5. Everyone Fights In Front Of Their Home Crowd Once Or Twice

Unless you come from Siberia, Timbuktu, or Never Land, you're going to fight in front of your home town, or home country, crowd at least once in your career if you're anywhere near marketable enough to headline or co-headline a card - and probably even if you're just a mid-carder. This isn't the UFC showing favouritism to Conor McGregor as Cole Miller has implied - this is simple business sense, as well as common sense. How many fights has Jose Aldo had in Brazil? Remember him jumping into the crowd after a successful title bout? How many times has GSP fought in Montreal? And you can add in Toronto, where he's still basically just a Canadian champ fighting in front of rabid home country fans. Brits fight in Britain, Kiwis in New Zealand, Swedes in Sweden, Poles in Poland. And there's no question that the UFC has had plenty of American fighters fight in their home towns - we saw just that at the recent San Antonio and New Mexico events! I'm not sure exactly where Cole Miller has been, but how he found this to be an issue is beyond me, because it happens all the time in the MMA game. In fact, Miller himself is from Georgia, and his last fight (in January 2014) came in, you guessed it - Georgia. Hypocritical much? It should be noted as well that under the UFC banner, McGregor has fought in Ireland just once (the Dublin show was the company's first show in Ireland in five years), and his next bout will be in Las Vegas.
