This weekend Hull secured a surprising win over high-flying Liverpool and lifted themselves to tenth in the Premier League table. Steve Bruce's target for halfway through the season was five wins, something that the Tigers have already achieved. They currently sit with 17 points in the table and Bruce has admitted he does feel like they are 'half-way there'. The aim for Hull this season, like every newly promoted team, was to avoid relegation and they can comfortably achieve that. They've picked up wins against well-established top-flight sides like Norwich and West Ham, while also surprising many to pick up fantastic wins at St. James' Park and at home to the Reds. The Tigers showed their ability yesterday and frustrated Liverpool, now the aim will be to continue in this form and continue to pick up decent results. Here's my five reasons as to why Hull City will avoid relegation this season.
5. Steve Bruce
After a successful first season at the helms, where he guided Hull to promotion with a second-place finish in the Championship, Steve Bruce has now made the first important steps in securing his sides safety. He's a brilliant manager for Hull. He gets the best out of his players and has a large amount of Premier League experience after time in charge of Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland. Not only is he brilliant on the field, he also has the right impact off the pitch and he relates to the fans. There's a lot going on with Hull at the moment as the chairman is pushing through a name change, which the fans are understandably furious about. However, Bruce isn't letting this affect the on-field performance and is instead using it to drive his side forward. When asked about the problems yesterday he responded by saying he needs to 'have a word' with the chairman and explain why the fans are so upset. This is exactly what you want to hear from the manager.
