In one of the most high profile twitter spats on this list, Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney found himself in hot water after he threatened to put a Liverpool Fan to sleep in 10 seconds over abusive tweets he was being sent. A disgruntled follower took it upon themselves to hurl a bit of late-night abuse at Rooney, tweeting 'Rooney ya fat w***e ill smash ya head in with a pitchin wedge an bury ya with a ballast fork ya fat ugly lil n***e.' Clearly an enemy of the English language as well as the United forward, the user probably thought that Rooney would just disregard the tweet, as he probably does with the rest of the threats he likely receives on a daily basis. In hindsight, Rooney probably wishes that he did. The striker encouraged the follower to make good on his threat, and meet him outside Uniteds Carrington training ground. 'I will put u asleep within 10 seconds hope u turn up if u don't gonna tell everyone ur scared u little nit. I'll be waiting.' And probably acting upon some advice from someone within the United legal team who has a lot more sense, the 27-year-old frontman then defused the situation by tweeting 'Haha bit of banter and people go nuts chill all people.' The moral of this story? If you tweet Wayne Rooney a threat, he will look for you, he will find you, and he will put you to sleep.
