By Ian Newby /

UFC 164 was a big night for everyone in MMA with it being the first PPV card put on by the UFC since their programming starting airing on the brand new Fox Sports 1 Milwaukee played host to the card which was well received by the over 9 thousand fans who paid to be at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Most came to watch their home town boy Anthony Pettis who was fighting for the Lightweight title against Benson Henderson, a rematch from their epic fight of the year in the WEC. Pettis who got ruled out of UFC 163 with an injury stepped up when the number one contender for the Lightweight belt TJ Grant was struck down by injury. As UFC President Dana White put it the fight couldn€™t have worked out better if it was planned, to get the 2010 fight of the year in the main event for the Lightweight title with both guys on a roll and in the prime of their careers just looked perfect. Also returning to the Octagon the former youngest heavyweight in UFC history Josh Barnett, the former featherweight number one contender Chad Mendes and even Randy Couture€™s son Ryan was on the card in the Facebook prelims. Plenty then for any MMA fan to enjoy even with the Saturday event taking place just a few days after the UFC€™s first Wednesday fight night an newer occurrence to have two UFC events in one week. Thankfully it was an amazing event maybe the best all round show the UFC has put on all year certainly there was nothing to complain about the quality of the fights. Every single fight on the card had something, they weren€™t all classics but were all very enjoyable to watch and nothing is better for a PPV than to have every match on the card offer some entertainment. There were several important things to gain from UFC 164 but we are going to take a look at just 5 big moments that will impact the UFC€™s rankings and match making decisions for the next few months.
