5 Times Manchester City Got It Massively Wrong In The Transfer Market

5. Jo

Rangey Brazilian striker Jo was one of the first big money signings made by the club as they looked to branch out into worldwide markets the club had previously had no involvement with.

Boasting a fine goalscoring record over in Russia with CSKA Moscow, Jo was brought into the club for a hefty £24m fee as City looked to give their forward line a focal point and regular goalscorer.

However, Jo struggled to get to grips with the Premier League as the pace of the game often left him struggling to get involved, and after just over six months in Manchester, he was sent to fellow top flight outfit Everton.

He did indeed find some form at Goodison Park, but City weren't interested in reintergating Jo back into the fold at the Etihad, and he was shipped out on various loan spells before sealing a return to his homeland on a free transfer back in 2012.

Jo has since managed to rebuild his career somewhat, and moved to Japan back in 2018 as Corinthians cashed in on the Premier League flop.
