6 Premier League Players To Look Out For In 2014

By Scott Mcpherson /

For many people the start of a new year is a chance to better yourself, make a fresh start or change something in your life, and Premier League footballers aren't immune to this tradition. If you haven't been playing well in 2013 or you haven't been as successful as you would have hoped, then the start of a new calendar year can be a great motivation to turn things around. 2013 was a great year for a number of Premier League players: Daniel Sturridge, Romelu Lukaku, Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Aaron Ramsey all had the best year of their careers. They all reached individual performance levels that they had previously failed to reach and in most of the cases, their teams have profited massively as a result (only Lukaku's parent club have missed out, due to a commitment to lesser talents but bigger brands.) On the other hand, several players will have made New Year's resolutions to improve their performances on the pitch - whether because they haven't reached their potential, or are being held back by a stuttering team - and I have singled out six players who I think could make a big impact in the Barclays Premier League in 2014.
