Manchester City are set to enter a new era this summer when the most sought-after manager in world football, Pep Guardiola, arrives at the club. However, the City squad is in dire need of an overhaul, and this is set to be Guardiola's most difficult job to date. Pellegrini currently has the second oldest squad in the Premier League available to him, behind West Brom, and Guardiola will need to bring in a host of new players to enhance the squad and replace certain players who are now past their sell by date. There are two clear problems that the current Bayern Munich boss must address: centre back and centre midfield. When captain Vincent Kompany is not in the side, the Manchester City defence is nothing short of a shambles. No matter what combination of Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis is sent out by Pellegrini, the centre back pairing look as though they have just met and have no understanding of how to defend. Guardiola must find the ideal partner for Kompany; someone who will be able to hold the fort when the Belgian defender is away nursing his injuries. The balance at the heart of Manchester City's midfield will also be something that Guardiola needs to find a solution to. Yaya Toure is not the player he once was, but the combination of Fernandinho and Fernando limits City offensively. With Guardiola due to arrive in the summer, here are eight players he could bring to the club.
