The history and prestige of Manchester United is second to none, making the club the Mecca for professional footballers. Being chosen to play for the world's most famous club is a reality that most footballers can only dream of, but for the lucky few it is a chance to grace the hallowed turf at Old Trafford and play in front of thousands of fans. However, not every player that joins the Red Devils is littered with the same successes as the likes of Ryan Giggs and David Beckham. The United scouts and managers do make mistakes, and some players turn out to not be as good as they first appeared, while others struggle with the pressure of playing for such a prestigious club and never reach the heights they achieved before moving to Old Trafford. Inevitably they then move on, with most football fans expecting them to fade into obscurity immediately, but sometimes the inevitable doesn't always happen as it should and players can defy expectations - and occasionally logic - and go on to success at other clubs. Sometimes, that's on a smaller scale than United (inevitably thanks to their comparative failure at the club) but even more surprisingly, some players deemed not good enough for United - or deemed sales-worthy - can do on to even bigger success elsewhere. Whatever the situation for the individual player, whether they have flopped or blossomed at Old Trafford, there can always be more success after leaving Manchester United.
