Not only are the biggest club on the face of the earth a revolving door of managers, but they also serve as a conveyor belt for the finest footballing talent. However, such is the quantity of brilliance that they acquire to entertain the public and subsequently discard within a couple of years, following the termination of the supporters' animalistic attention span, there are bound to be a few world-class superstars disposed of on the Bernabeu scrapheap. For example, there were musings this time last year about whether the Real Madrid hierarchy had made yet another gargantuan error in disrupting the squad harmony by shipping out top-assister Mesut Ozil, in place of £85 million man Gareth Bale - who had tasted just one season of Champions League football, and had never been involved in a title race. 12 months on, and nobody is posing that question any longer, with the Welshman having helped the club to the coveted 'La Decima', while Ozil has struggled for form in North London, but there are a plethora of other examples where that has not been the case. Such is the revolving door of presidents at Real Madrid, signings are no longer sanctioned by the manager - indeed, they are gifts promised to the supporters by election candidates. Unsurprisingly, the unsexy, defensive-minded players were never the ones at the forefront of presidential policies. On the contrary, they were often the ones who were forced to make way for more attack-minded, flair players - when operating with that mantra in mind, it's no surprise that a club of such wealth and resources just spent over a decade without a European Cup. Take a look at the nine players the biggest club on the face of the Earth will probably wish they hadn't sold.
