Arsenal Poll: Who Should Lead Wenger's Attack Against Man City?

Will it be Welbeck or Sanogo?

By Daniel Blazer /

When it was announced that Arsenal€™s Olivier Giroud would be out until 2015 with an injury sustained against Everton; Gooners from all corners of the globe began either turning to God, tried positive thinking, wrote letters or began Googling the Good Samaritans helpline €“ all of these actions would€™ve been born out of the realisation that Yaya Sanogo was going to being Arsenal€™s main man in front of goal for the next four months. Those fears were eased on Deadline Day, however, when Arsene Wenger pulled off a last minute £16million deal for Manchester United€™s Danny Welbeck. Welbeck, currently away on international duty with England, has faced criticism for his overall goalscoring record €“ 25 Premier League goals from 115 appearances (including his loan spell with Sunderland). With such an uninspiring average of nearly one goal every five games, there is a debate as to whether the 23-year-old is really the best option for Arsenal through the middle. After the international break, Arsenal welcome Manchester City to the Emirates but who should Wenger select as man through the middle? Something to consider is that Theo Walcott will be back in full training next week and, although seriously lacking in match fitness, the former Southampton forward€™s number of goals per 90 minutes completed last season was better than that of any other Arsenal player (0.52) which may see Le Professeur take a gamble.
