Arsenals summer transfer drought looks set to finally come to an end as young Brazilian sensation Bernard looks set for a big money move to The Emirates, according to The London Evening Standard. Bernard has been a long time target of Arsene Wengers and he should get his man in a deal believed to be worth £21 million for the services of the highly rated attacking midfielder, smashing Arsenals transfer record. The Evening Standard claims that the French press are reporting that Bernard will earn £50,000 a week out of the deal, signing a five-year contract, with a medical booked in for Friday. At just twenty years old the playmaker already has five caps for his country and with interest from across Europe, this is seen as a major coup for the club. Tottenham and Liverpool are just two of the teams who were thought to be interested in signing the Athletico Mineiro player but it seems they will miss out as the two clubs are in advanced negotiations. Arsenal have endured a frustrating summer so far, with a move for Gonzalo Higuain never coming to fruition and being knocked back in their approach for Luis Suarez. However their start of attacking reinforcements could finally bare fruit with the capture of Bernard. Bernard is thought to have bags of potential to develop is already impressive skills and at £21 million Arsenal could have a fantastic deal on their hands. The deal will break the £15 million transfer record Arsenal set when they signed Andrei Arshavin in 2009. Is Bernard the man Arsenal need? Who would Gunners fans like to see through the door after Bernard? Thoughts welcome below.
