Arsenal are setting their sights on young Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama, according to The Daily Mail. The Gunners are reportedly weighing up a move for the 21-year-old Kenyan youngster and his prospects as a replacement for the seemingly outbound Alex Song, who is believed to be on his way to Barcelona should they make an adequate bid. Apparently the Gunners aren't the only ones with their eye on the Celtic up-and-comer, though; Manchester United have also had scouts watching the 21-year-old Kenyan on the pitch. Wanyama has previously expressed exasperation that he is frequently played in defence rather than a defensive midfielder, and is reportedly enthusiastic to make a move to England, which would cost Arsene Wenger around the £7 million mark. The youngster has been a force to be reckoned with during his debut season at Celtic, helping Celtic make it to the SPL title, but Wenger will have to consider whether, in the more fierce English top tier, he is a suitable defensive midfield replacement for the exiting Song. It is important to remember that should Song leave the club, Wenger may turn his intentions towards much sought-after French international Yann M€™Vila. Otherwise, it is thought that the Gunners could look to another youngster, Emmanuel Frimpong, to impress for a first team spot.
