Arsenal Transfer News: Andrei Arshavin To Fulham?
Fulham look to pick up the Gunners' under-performing forward.
Metro reports. However, Arshavin did show promise this summer during his Euro 2012 performances for Russia, and has spent the latter half of last season on loan to his old club, Zenit St Petersburg, though he is not expected to make a permanent move back there from Arsenal. Rather, Fulham are hoping that they might be able to reel him in, given that Arshavin is settled in London with his children attending school there. Otherwise, one wonders whether Barcelona, whose 15m offer for the forward was rejected in 2008, would still be interested in bringing him in as a squad player? If Arshavin is to join the Cottagers, though, he would likely be expected to take a substantial pay cut, as the squad are not able to afford his £80,000 a week salary, yet the lure of staying settled in London might entice him enough to take the deal. Reportedly, Fulham manager Martin Jol is hoping to land Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes alongside Arshavin prior to the start of the Premier League.
