Real Madrid's appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as manager will trigger the sale of Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal, write the Independent. The developments will finally see the Argentina international move to the Premier League and one of Ancelotti's first acts as manager at the Bernabeu will be to sanction his sale to the Gunners. The only thing standing in the way of the 25-year-old's move to North London was the fact Los Blancos were without a manager but now that problem has been solved the move is expected to go through shortly. Italian Champions Juventus were also interested in the services of the Madrid man, but they today completed the signing of Carlos Tevez from Manchester City and are not expected to sign both players. That leaves a clear passage for Arsenal to wrap up the signing of the South American, who netted 16 La Liga goals last season. The Gunners are even willing to smash their club-transfer-record to ensure the deal goes through, and are prepared to spend £22 million and also offer £125,000-a-week in wages. That would dwarf the £15 million paid to Zenit St Petersburg for Andrey Arshavin in 2009, which remains a club-record fee. Higuain has scored 107 La Liga goals for Real Madrid in six and a half seasons with only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo scoring more than him in that period.
