Arsenal Transfer News: Cazorla & Sahin Signed In 48 Hours?
Wenger mixes up his midfield game with La Liga players Santi Cazorla and Nuri Sahin.
Caught Offside. Reportedly, once medical assessments have been conducted over the next few days, the eager pair will be signing with the squad within 48 hours. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been keen to sign both players for a few weeks, and their respective teams, Malaga (Carzola) and Real Madrid (Sahin), have agreed to the transfer. Santi Cazorlas move to Emirates will be unaffected by Malaga's change of ownership, and his £17m signing by Wenger is earmarked as the club's most expensive acquisition to date. His track record at La Rosaleda is solid, having helped them qualify to the Champions League, but the side will still be happy to let him go as a cost-cutting measure. Meanwhile, Nuri Sahin's loan signing will be completed alongside this. The Turkish international has endured a lacklustre tenure at Real Madrid, failing to make it into the starting line-up, but Jose Mourinho is apparently still impressed by the attacking midfielder, and approves of giving the player some much-needed front-line experience at Emirates. Wenger is also looking to include a clause in the loan that would allow them to take the reins on Sahin permanently if they so wish, though Real Madrid are naturally wary of this. The Gunners' boss is looking to diversify his midfield game this season, what with the injuries plaguing Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky.
