Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has agreed personal terms with Arsenal ahead of his £22 million move to the club, according to the Mirror. The Argentinian is prepared to put pen to paper on a £130,000-per-week contract and will become the Gunner's record signing. Madrid have been open to offers for the 25-year old and have touted him to a number of clubs such as Juventus, who held low-level talks with the Spanish giants over a move. However, the Turin outfit are now more likely to sign Fiorentina's Stevan Jovetic, once a long-term Arsenal target. Higuain is keen to move to the Emirates after holding two rounds of talks with Wenger, who hopes to have wrapped the deal up prior to the the club's Far East tour in three weeks' time. Arsenal are even prepared to smash their transfer record - which remains the £15 million paid for Andrei Arshavin in 2009 - and wage structure to ensure they land the striker as the club try to end eight long years without a trophy. Capturing the Real Madrid man is seen as a statement of intent by the club, who are determined to challenge again for major trophies. Higuain scored 16 La Liga goals last season.
